Successfully booted into my own Linux

Hey friends!!!
This post might not be quite informative for you. But I just wanted to share this with you guys.
Its my Linux From Scratch.:-) I have 'built (assembled)' it (No coding). Its not a distro, because its not portable yet (so not a distribution). I have compiled it for my Dell Inspiron only.
It doesn't have a good interface; accessed only through CLI. No GUI at all. But of course I'll add more functionality to this basic system.
How have I done it? Want to try out yourself? Visit my new blog: http://tuxforever.wordpress.com/
I'm just trying out wordpress. I'm not sure that from now on I'll post on wordpress. But one thing is sure that next few posts will be on that blog. My apologies for the inconvenience.

UBUNTU: Add missing OS title to GRUB

When you install Windows on your Linux box, GRUB (GRand Unified Bootloader) is washed away from the MBR, because windows writes its own bootloader to MBR. (Here I assume that no windows was installed before Linux installation). If you are successful to write GRUB to MBR (how?), it does not contain the entry for your new Operating System (Windows). Now you need to edit the GRUB configuration file. And if you are a newbie to Linux, you don't know what commands to write in order to  create the entry for Windows. For Ubuntu users, I've found an easy method to do that, and it requires no command.

UNETBOOTIN: Boot your Linux painlessly with USB Stick

Some (or maybe many) of you must have come across forums and blogs having posts about making the USB drive bootable, some kind of commands type... But its difficult to remember those commands just by looking at them. I'm sharing here what I used (recently) for booting up my PC from my USB drive.

Enable Root Login in Kubuntu 9.10

Kubuntu Linux by default doesn't let you to login as root on your graphical login terminal.
Kubuntu has its own security mechanism that does not allow root login so that you don't mess up your system, because when you are root, you will have all the privileges to destroy your Linux box.
Although in Ubuntu 9.10 root login is enabled, but not in Kubuntu (9.10). So to enable it, first you need to be root.
